Probably everyone has a friend who earns respect through touchiness and vindictiveness?

             In relation to these people you can often hear something like “We must invite him to the birthday party, or he will be offended.”

             And then at the party everyone has to force themselves to tolerate his presence.

             True friends are invited not because otherwise they will get offended, but because they are interesting and pleasant to spend time with.
